General Safety Tips Bulletin

 

  1. Have your key ready, but not visible when approaching your vehicle.
  2. Inspect the outside and inside of the vehicle before unlocking it.
  3. Know your destination and directions to it, and be alert should you get lost.
  4. Always drive with your windows and doors locked and/or closed.
  5. Make a mental note of any Police Stations in the area.
  6. When dropping a passenger off, make sure that they are safely in their own vehicle or home before departing.
  7. Avoid driving through high crime or unfamiliar areas.
  8. Avoid driving when the roads are quiet.
  9. Drive in the center lane away from pedestrians where possible.
  10. If possible, never drive alone.
  11. NEVER pick up hitch-hikers.
  12. Change your routes on a regular basis.
  13. Do not leave windows open more than 5cm.
  14. Always, always be aware when driving in case you are being followed.  Hi-jacking don’t only happen at night but throughout the day, drive ways being Hot spots !.
  15. Get to know the guards at your complex or road closure gate,  where applicable .  Be aware of sudden, unexplained new faces.  Contact the control room if you see anything suspicious.
