- Unplug all low voltage transformers which will not be used such as cordless phone, cell phone charges, DVD machines, etc – these are a fire hazard
- Unplug all other plugs which are not in use – this will prevent the items being damaged due to lightening/power surges
- Turn off your geyzer
- Turn off your water at the main if no-one will be home over this period – this will prevent water damage if a pipe bursts
- Stop deliveries to your home over this period – newspaper, etc
- Test your alarm and arm it when you leave
- Inform your neighbours if you are going away
